Picasso and Wine

For fun instead of going to dinner like every year we decided to learn to paint.... So we went to a place in Windsor and had some christmas time fun... I believe the wine and beer made our paintings that much better!

My kitty cat

Back in April I posted about Rascal and how she has become older and more sick.  I began to feed her wet cat food and she seems to rebound back.  Still about 5 lbs but was doing better.  Then, a couple weeks ago I was laying in bed and think I witnessed her have a seizure.  It was very scary even for my nursing background.  I know she has been in renal failure for sometime now and then she again had another seizure later in the afternoon.  So the go owner I am I took her to the vet, paid $300 and again learned she was in renal failure. The vet suggested a plan of care that could possibly "fix" her and prolong her life.
I decided no and just take her home.  Fixing renal failure in my 17 1/2 year old cat is probably not reversible. A couple days later she proceeded to have another massive seizure in the middle of the night and though she was going to die right there.  Balling my eyes out only thinking of her I struggled.  I called the vet the next morning and got a prescription for valium like the vet suggested.  The first time we gave her the valium it was sad but hilarious she couldn't even walk. Cutting back the dose to an amount that was more feasible. I haven't seen her have a seizure. There was one time where I didn't give it to her and she had another one so then I decided she does really need the medication.  The vet also said that valium would also increase her appetite. She now gets 1/4 tab of valium 2x a day and she seems to be doing better.  She is now neurotic about food and wakes me and my roommate up very early every morning and crawls in your lap when your eating and tries to steal bites.
Now I have a cat that needs to take valium daily to prevent her from having seizures.  I know the end is going to come but I cant let her go.  I understand the physiological aspects of what she is going though, but at this time she still eats, use the littler box and purrs, so i just don't feel right putting her to sleep now especially is the valium can help her for the time being. So now what do I do? I will always love her she means so much to me, I have grown up with her and all she is all I know.

ooh and ps I have lost like 10 lbs since my weightloss post!

Mama Said Sew

Piecing together the squares for the
rag quilt
Deciding how i wanted to lay it out..
Random but with a pattern....

In the last couple of months I have pick quilting back up.  I have decided though I like to make modern rag quilts the best.  I also love using the trendy hip fabric, like Amy Butler, Heather Bailey, or Michael Miller.  There is a place in Fort Collins that has the most amazing fabrics. It’s called Mama Said Sew, and I am luck y I don’t currently live there or I would be spending a lot of money.  Casper doesn’t have ANY selection of “modern” fabrics so that kind of angers me.  Plenty selections of grandmother fabric though… if that makes sense.   Lol
Jelly-Roll quilt scene in previous posts
I do have a problem finishing things…I still need to complete the binding on my original quilt and I am also currently doing a “jelly-roll” quilt that I need to finish the piecing on the front side.  Piecing is my favorite part… I also started a purse (that is not finished) This is probably why I like rag quilts the best because I do the batting front and back pretty much all at the same time.  I think once I get better I would really like to sell them… Maybe I should finish something 1st
The purse...
Lennah's fabrics
Yet, I did finish a rag quilt just recently for Lennah, my beautiful baby of my friends Nicole and Trevor…I was also on a time limit.

I Really Mean it!

My journal and calorie tracker!

For the last 2-3 weeks or so I have been trying to loose weight and be healthier.  SO with my friends Kim and Julie we pretty much made a pack to be better.  We even created journals were we can record our progress.  I feel like I could probably do better with my eating.  I have been tracking everything in a calorie counter on my phone and trying to make better choices but it is hard when I never really had much control over or cared what I ate.  Now it has caught up with me!  I remembering posting last year or so about being the heaviest I am well now that’s not true I am NOW.
Kristin's Bridesmaid dress.... Pretty cute
really!
Anyway, with Kristin getting married next spring I’m determined to look good in that bridesmaid dress and a bikini all week!!!!  SO it starts now!! Or trying at least.  I really haven’t lost any weight but I cant get discouraged.  I’m trying to limit myself to 1680 calories when my normal intake was probably was more like 2800-3300 in a day… If I’m under 2000 I feel good about myself.
This past weekend my friend Katie came to Denver which involved about of ETOH and eating out which totally blew my 2000 restriction with 2 days being greater them 3500 calories and all….I know I cant stress about it because once I’m back at work I will be more structured!  Plus no exercise really… (We did go for a hike yesterday ) Then! I go to Boston in a week and half!  Boston Cream Pie----maybe this time I’ll just get a slice not the whole pie  :P.
Embarrassed to post this pic!  Took yesterday
on our hike... I am going to get rid of that
belly button hole!
With eating less (I don’t necessary want to say better at this point) I have been trying to exercise at lease 4 day a week.  Really trying to focus on running.. I would love to be able to run a 5K at some point.  I have never really been much a runner so it is difficult.  SO I found this plan that gradually increases you up to running without stopping.  I was doing well until I hurt my right foot arch… UGH not I might have to start off or just DO IT!! And Stop being a baby J
Well I plan on trying to be like 180 lbs which is like 50lbs to loose so well see how close I get!  AT least by December when I buy that dress J
SO this time I mean it! IT does help that I have good friends who are trying to loose weight too!!

Wish me Luck!

10 Year Reunion

I can't believe it has been 10 years since I graduated from high school.  It was great seeing people that you don't get to see often or ever. I was a little nervous at first and I have no idea why but... I do have to say that I might have been a little smashed by the end... :P

Allure of the Seas

Yesterday I booked my room for the cruise I'm going on next May for Kristin and Jeff's wedding.  I pretty excited because not only is it going to be a fun vacation but more importantly it will be a great time celebrating 2 of my best friends.  We are going on the Allure of the Sea which is the largest cruise ship in the world. Here is a video, just watch it you'll understand.

A pic of the Allure that I took last December while in Fort Lauderdale, never though I would go on it one day!
The happy couple that is "forcing" me to go on their cruise :)
Yep again I'm pretty excited!

A-Z Things I Love

Inspired by Lisa O (Lisa's Blog) who fills things like this all the time I though I would try one.  So here ya go A-Z of all the favorite things I love.

A-Alcohol beverages—I love a good tasting beer or a nice fruity mix drink after a long day at work or a night out with friends.

B- Bunnies—I love seeing baby bunnies grow and helping caring for them.  It is sad to see when they don’t make it.  Didn’t realize how touchy newborn babies are.

C-Concerts—I love seeing a great band/performer live with a nice cold beer in hand. And of course, what Lisa said: Country all the way!

D-Dining out—Probably the reason why I need to loose 30 pounds but I love to eat at different restaurants.  I like to cook too but just need to do it more and someone to cook for.

E-Education—I love school, I know sounds weird.  It has been 2 yrs since I graduated from nursing school and I miss it!  I would love to go to grad school but I don’t to be in debt anymore then I already am.

F-Family/Friends—I couldn’t ask for more then great friends and a supportive family that I can always rely on.

G-Garden—I love planting vegetables and watching them grow and then enjoying the finished product I do have say that my garden at this time is pretty over grown with weeds.

H-Hospital—I know this is a weird but it is the one place that I’m able to feel like a true nurse, challenge my mind and interact with friends and coworkers.

I-I Phone—It’s amazing how important one little handy device is so important with connecting you with your friends/family and the world.

J-Jeep—I love driving my jeep especially with the roof off, windows down, subwoofer blasting listening to great music.

K-Knitting—this goes about with Q but I do love to knit even though it has been awhile since I made anything.

L-License—My Registered Nurse license that is. J

M-Music—I love listening to music mostly country, top 20, alternative and pop/rock. Especially as loud as I can.  I’m going to be deaf by the time I’m 60 but ooh well.

N-Netflix—I watch Netflix all the time especially while lying in bed.

O-Oops—I’m blonde, enough said.

P-Pedicures—The one this that I truly do a lot that is girly and makes my feet feel wonderful.

Q-Quilting—My new found hobby that I did mostly last winter when it was cold and dreary outside.  I know it makes me sound about 70 yrs old but its fun to pick out different fabrics and see what goes together.

R-Rascal—My crazy anorexic geriatric 17 year old cat that I can’t imagine living with out.

S-Single—Being single again is bittersweet.  I am happy that I’m not in a relationship anymore that causes he hurt but wish I would meet that special person someday.

T-Television—I love vegging out and lying on the couch watching nothing-important thinking about being productive.  As I type this I’m laying here.

U-Underwood—As in Carrie, love her music!  As well as the other pop country singers like Dierks Bentley, Josh Turner, etc.

V-Vegetables—I love eating fresh vegetables and fruit it is delicious and healthy all in one.

W-Wyoming—As much as I would like to move back to Colorado Wyoming is actually a pretty good place.

X-XOXO—Hugs and kisses how everyone needs them.

Y-You—I know this is a long stretch but the few numbers of people that actually read my blog and are involved in my life.

Z-Zzzz—As in sleeping and cuddling all warm and comfy.
